Transcript of the 'Effective use of the webcam' video

This is the transcript of the 'Effective use of the webcam' video

Peter:
As part of the rural access gap program, the MLDs are supplied with the webcam to enhance collaboration. The two models supplied are either the Logitech Brio or the Logitech Meetup. In most situations, the webcam is connected to the MLD. And this means that whether you are using the mini PC supply or a laptop, which is connected using the guest cable set, the webcams will be visible in all applications. If your current interactive panel has received an uplift, the web cam will be directly connected to the mini PC.

Peter:
In addition to using the web camera for video conferencing applications, it can be a useful tool in other purposes in the classroom, especially when capturing evidence of learning. It may be useful to take a picture or video of the students working in the classroom. You are able to do this using the web camera that is attached to your MLD. Students may be working in groups, preparing for a drama presentation or completing a science experiment and want to document the learning process. Allowing students to reflect on their learning at a later date. In the Windows operating system, you can open the camera app, place the webcam in your desired position. If you have the Meetup camera, you can use remote to position the camera angle.

Peter:
Next, tap or click the take photo button. The image or video will be stored on the mini PC in the pictures folder under camera roll. You can copy and paste this image into a variety of applications, just like you would with any other image. And we also recommend adding it to your preferred cloud based storage to make it accessible anywhere anytime you wish to use the image.

Peter:
You can also access the webcam while using many different applications, such as OneNote. Simply open OneNote, click insert in the ribbon menu then click on pictures. Here we can select from camera. If this is the first time using the web camera, the device may ask you to allow OneNote to have access to the camera, select allow. Position the camera as required and select the take photo button. The MLD is a fantastic way for teachers and students to connect with other schools around the state. By utilising the webcam and a video conferencing application, the teacher can conduct an online experience with another school or organisation.

Peter:
This might be useful if you are wanting to share a drama performance piece with another school or an external audience. The MLD and webcam are fantastic tools which can be used to make connections and promote collaboration. We look forward to hearing how you are making the most of these resources.
