Third-party supported migration FAQs

Below is a list of FAQs to help you understand the processes for the third-party supported migration of school owned and managed Windows devices.

If you would like help migrating the devices at your school to Intune/CDM, please complete the Intune/CDM upgrade assistance form.

Ideally, all managed devices at schools would be migrated to Intune/CDM by Friday 30 May 2025.

All devices that have not been migrated will continue to function as per normal.

To ensure we reach as many schools as possible, we will be working with several third-party companies based in NSW – however the process will be the same for each of them:

  1. After you have requested support via the Intune/CDM upgrade assistance form, a representative from the company assigned to your school will send you an email to schedule you in.
  2. Once they arrive on site, please guide them to the lockable room you’ve allocated for them to work on devices. It is vital that at least 20 department-managed student Windows devices are ready for them to start working on. Please also provide the naming convention you would normally use for each group of devices (Blue laptops, Stage 3 laptops, Maths laptops, etc).
  3. En route to the allocated room, please advise the team of any housekeeping (such as which toilets they are allowed to use and where they should not be going while on site) and remind them what time they should be leaving. This will differ from school to school, but teams are aware that they need to respect school rules and processes.
  4. Please provide a timetable of when devices will be available and ready to be reimaged by the team. This will help make the process more efficient and enable as many devices to be rebuilt as possible per day. Throughout the day, please ask the team which devices are ready to be taken back to classrooms.

Yes. As part of the onboarding process, the department will perform the necessary eCPC checks.

Please provide them with:

  • A timetable of when devices will be available and ready to be reimaged by the team.
  • A spacious locked room with an active ethernet port, 3 to 4 available power points and enough tables for at least 20 devices to sit on.

Depending on the network capability, the third-party support team can migrate 20 devices at a time, over a period of about 2 hours.

Depending on network capability, the third-party support team can migrate about 80 devices per day.

The support team will be available during your school’s core hours. They are also able to be on site from 8am and until 4.30pm, should this work for your school.

Please follow your normal support process or submit an online ticket with EDConnect.
