Alert Why should I consider student privacy?
Keeping students' personal information secure is everyone’s responsibility as per the Privacy and the use of third-party web and cloud-based service providers (nsw.gov.au) policy. Before you use any online application in the classroom, you can carry out a search in AssessedIT to check if it is safe. There are over a thousand online applications, resources, device drivers, browser extensions, mobile and desktop applications that have been assessed for cyber security and data privacy to help you.
Each application has a rating:
- If it is rated ‘endorsed’ or ‘use with caution’ - adhere to documented usage conditions.
- If parental consent is required, information about data collected, stored and shared is provided. The automated parental consent form can be generated and sent for the applications/services you have selected to use during the school year. For questions about parental consent, please seek advice from Legal services.
Safer Technology for Schools have reviewed some services. This is reflected in the NSIP (National Schools Interoperability Program) column. If a service is ‘endorsed’, but there is an outstanding NSIP report, you can still use the service.
If the application/service you want to use is not in AssessedIT, search to determine if there is another application/service that meets your needs. For more information, read Online software applications and parental consent or reach out to the cybercompliance@det.nsw.edu.au team.

Update Single Sign On (SSO) process with Canva
Over the break there was a slight tweak made to the Single Sign On (SSO) process with Canva. This change affects the URL associated with the SSO process. If you access Canva through the Staff Portal there is no need to worry - the change has been made to the tile in your portal and you can log into Canva seamlessly though there.
However, if you access Canva via the SSO method through another landing page set as your browser default home page using Sharepoint Page, Google Site or Canvas, the URL that is linked to the Canva tile will need to be changed in order for access via SSO to continue.
The new URL is: https://edu.nsw.link/canvalogin
