This 1-hour hands-on workshop will help teachers get started with digital learning in their classroom using Google’s digital technology tools.  This instructor-led session will introduce G Suite functions and features to help participants build their skills and knowledge of how technologies can empower student creation and collaboration.   Participants will learn how to use:  Google Docs and Slides to create a learning activity, and  Google Drive to locate and share their activity for collaboration. Plus, participants will get access to some excellent top tech tips and tricks!  Participants will also discuss how the technologies work to support collaboration and creativity for students and teachers.  All attendees will complete a reflection of the experience and intended application of their learning, post-course completion.   Simply click below to register with your Department of Education email address and you will receive an email confirmation with your link to join on the day. micro:bit data collection – advanced digital incursion

Bring your students and join the T4L Team as they explore remote data collection using the micro:bit. Students will explore systems thinking skills, developing solutions to run sensors to collect temperature data. They will and analyse and compare the data with different schools across the state. Students will be shown how to construct the experiment, record their data in a data streamer spreadsheet and then overlay it on a collaborative map of NSW. This will be an interactive student session where participants are encouraged to ask questions. The workshop is best suited for students from Stages 3-5. Tools required: The micro:bits firmware must be up to date. Complete this using the micro:bit user guide. Students require access to a computer as well as two micro:bits per group. Teachers are encouraged to have the webinar ready to play on a computer connected to a screen or a projector so students can follow along. Please note: This meeting will not be recorded, but please have permission to publish for students to be seen and participate in a live Zoom meeting.
