Digital tools for building community connections

Aimee Higgins presenting on Main Learning Display

Join us online for "Digital tools for building community connections", designed for NSW Department of Education staff interested in leveraging digital tools to strengthen connections between schools and their local communities. Aimee Higgins, Principal Education Officer also will share practical examples of how schools can use technology to engage meaningfully with Elders, Aboriginal Education Officers (AEOs), and local Aboriginal Education Consultative Groups (AECGs).

Key topics:

Learn and connect

  • Collaborate with Elders, AEOs, and AECGs to build an authentic understanding of your local country.
  • Create a dynamic Google Earth tour showcasing your local area and country.
  • Develop meaningful Acknowledgment of Country resources, including videos, podcasts, or email signatures.

Listen and create

  • Bring Elders into your school to share their cultural knowledge, language, and stories.
  • Capture and celebrate these experiences through podcasts, films, and Language apps.
  • Discover ways to use digital storytelling to communicate school news, updates, and celebrations effectively with your community.
