Transcript of 'How to access the Student Portal' video

This is the transcript for 'How to access the Student Portal' video:

Speaker 1:

My name is Claire and I'm from Mount View High School High School. I'm recording this on a meeting place of the Wonnarua, Awabakal, and Darkinung people. Today I'm going to show you how to access your portal and walk through its features. Open your browser. I'm using Google Chrome, but you could use Microsoft Edge or even Safari if you are on an Apple device. Your homepage may be the department's homepage already, but if it isn't, search for NSW DOE. The department's page should be the first one in your search. Click on the link. On the department's page, select login. In the top right corner, go down to the student section where you should find student portal.

If you are asked, sign in with your username. This is probably your first name.last name, and possibly a number. Enter your password. You'll know if you're correctly signed in if you can see your name. Yours might look different to mine depending on which stage you're in, but the layout should be the same. The Launch pad holds quick links to your email. The school library Premier's Reading Challenge, your Google, Microsoft, Adobe, and camera apps and many more. Below this, you'll find a bookmark space. If you click on the plus icon in the top right corner, you can add your own quick links. Add the name of the bookmark and URL. You'll need to copy and paste the link here. Choose a colour and hit save bookmark. You will see below and to the right, some other quick links and recommended sites. Depending on your dashboard and stage, you may see a paint palette in the top right corner that allows you to change the colour of your dashboard.

You'll notice an icon in the top right corner. For me, this is my initials. It could also be an icon of a person. In here, you have a few options. To begin with, you can change your password, simply put in your current password, and then in your new password and your new password for a second time to confirm that you have spelled it correctly, then click update password. In case you forget your password, you can set up secret questions. You'll find these under the menu showing your initials. Select update secret questions. Under question one, select the drop-down arrow and choose a question that is personal to you, and then answer that question.

Try to choose a question that other people won't be able to guess. Repeat this if required. You'll need to add your password again and press save question and answers. Also in this menu, you can select help. It mentions all that I have said here, but click on this if anything I mentioned is unclear. Finally, we have our logout button. You should log out whenever using a shared device. Select the account you wish to sign out of, and it'll let you know that you'll have signed out of your account and that you should close all of your windows and browsers. I hope this helps you understand your student portal.
