Speaker Progress is a powerful tool that educators can leverage to support and enhance student learning in the classroom. In this video, you'll learn how to use it in a Microsoft Teams assignment to allocate to your students and enable them to gain insightful feedback in order to improve their presentation skills. Firstly, within your class Microsoft Team, find the Assignments tab on the left-hand side, and down the bottom of the page, you will now see a purple Create button. Click on Learning Accelerators and then Speaker Progress. From here, you have the options on the right-hand side of the screen and can decide on Presentation title, the number of attempts your student may have, and time limit on their presentation. As a default, the video requirement and rehearsal report is on so that the student and teacher can get the best possible feedback. You can then toggle on or off particular components of Speaker Progress to provide feedback on.

You will notice a box appear in the middle of the page each time one is clicked. You can also toggle on Select all. Now click the purple Next button on the top right. Here is where you can give the assignment a title, an explanation of the task, and any additional materials you wish the students to have for this assignment. On the right-hand side, like with other assignments in Teams, you can then determine the due date, which students to assign it to so it can be differentiated as a task, attach any rubrics, and add other features such as a reflect check-in. Once you are happy with the setup, click Assign.

From your student's perspective, they will now see an assignment in their Microsoft Team. They simply need to click on the view assignment button, which will now be in the General channel. Once they have read the details of the assignment, they can click on the Speaker Progress attachment, which is at the bottom. They will need to allow camera and microphone permissions if and when prompted. Once they are ready to begin their presentation, click on the purple Start button. A countdown will begin, and the camera will load up. During the delivery of the presentation. They may see some Speaker Progress feedback notes pop up at the top of the screen recording. This is Speaker Progress giving them live feedback. This can be turned off if distracting, by clicking on the small bell symbol in the top right. As soon as they are finished presenting, they need to click the Stop button at the bottom centre of the screen.

Now they have the option of trying again, which will mean they will immediately record their presentation again, viewing their report, which is encouraged so that they can gain some feedback before recording. The report is where the student can see the duration of the presentation, strengths, and opportunities for improvement. This feedback provides valuable insights into the student's speaking habits, patterns, and progress over time. When the student is happy with a recording, they can click the third option, which is the purple Use this recording button. The recording will then be attached to the assignment, and the student can click the purple Turn it in button at the top right-hand side so that the teacher receives their assignment for review.

Now back to the teacher's perspective and how that assignment will look once handed in. Click on the View assignment button in the general channel of your team. Click on the Turned in button to view the student's work. Here, you'll be able to see the same report your student did, as well as the presentation recording. You can also give your own feedback in the box on the right, assign points, and return to your student by clicking the purple Return button on the bottom right corner.
