This is the transcript of the "Reading Progress - Part 2 student view and analysis" video.

Speaker 1:

For students to access Reading Progress, navigate to the General channel of the class team or the Assignments channel. Click View Assignment. Students read the instructions, then under the heading My work, click the Reading progress activity. The camera and microphone will be activated. Click Start to begin reading. A countdown timer will appear. Students then read the passage and will click I'm done at the bottom of the text. If the teacher has allowed for multiple attempts, click Try again. Click Use this recording to attach the recording to the assignment.

If comprehension questions are included, a form will appear for the students to complete. Answer the questions, then click Submit. If Reading Coach is enabled, click Reading Coach. A list of words will appear for the student to practise. Select a word then press the microphone and read the word out loud. Additional prompts such as Hear the word, Stretch the word, or See a picture are available to help read the word. If a word is mispronounced, the student has the opportunity to say it again. It will be coloured orange. If the word is said correctly, it will be coloured green. Once the task is complete, click Turn in.

Once students have completed their reading, the teacher can analyse their progress. Click on the assignment and then select the student. On the left-hand side of the screen, the teacher can play back the recording of the student reading. At the top of the screen, click Accuracy to view information captured regarding mispronunciations, omissions, and insertion of words. Click Five practise words to view which words Reading Coach supported the students in reading again and the tools that the students used to help them read the word.

Click Expression to view information on whether the student rushed the reading, had an extended pause, or read in a monotone voice. Lastly, clicking Comprehension allows the teacher to see the results of the quiz provided at the end of the reading. The teacher can also send a report back to the student with their results. Click the cog icon next to the word Comprehension, then click Edit next to Return full report to the student. Choose from a full, simplified, or customised report where the teacher can choose what aspects of the report to return to the student.
