This is the transcript of the "Insights and reflect" video.
Speaker 1:
Hi there. In this video, we will have a look at two apps included in every class Team: Reflect and Insights. Reflect helps teachers create impactful check-ins to gain insights into their students' wellbeing. Insights uses at-a-glance data views to help teachers track their students' Teams activity, from assignment turn-in to engagement in class conversations.
In the class Team, click the channel Reflect, located on the left-hand side of the screen. This may be located in the tabs at the top of the screen if your layout is in list view. Click the arrow under the Reflect heading to expand the menu. Teachers can create check-ins for their students to complete, set up a physical emotion board, and explore trends in the data collected from previous check-ins. To create a new check-in, click New Check-In. If you haven't created a check-in previously, this is located in the middle of the screen. Otherwise, it is located in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
The teacher can choose from a number of pre-made questions or choose to create a customised question. In the bottom left-hand corner of the window, click the cog icon to modify settings for the check-in. Here, the teacher can modify how long the check-in is available for, the emotion vocabulary level for students to choose how they are feeling, and what channel to post to within a Team.
There is a toggle button to record the students' names if the teacher wants to share results with the students. To preview what the students see, the teacher can click on the preview button in the top right-hand corner of the window. Once the teacher is ready, click Create Check-in in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. The teacher can now click on the check-in that was created to view student responses.
For students to complete the check-in, navigate to either the General channel and click the respective icon in the post, or click the Reflect channel. Click the face which best describes the emotion, and click Next. Choose from the list of words, then click Submit. If the student is unsure, simply click, "I'm not sure". Students can also view all their previous check-ins by clicking the tile in the middle of their screen. Other useful tools in Reflect include brain break activities. These are self-paced and can either be shown on the classroom main learning display or individual devices.
To access Insights, click on the channel located on the left-hand side of the screen. This may be located in the tabs at the top of the screen if your layout is in list view. The teacher will now be able to see an overview of all digital activity, assignments, reading progress analysis, and Reflect check-ins for their students. Teachers can filter by the entire class or individual students. Digital activity allows the teacher to see detailed information for the time spent on all activities related to the Team.
Click the drop-down menu to filter by the various activities. Assignments gives an overview of how many assignments have been submitted late or were missing, the average grade, if points were given, as well as the student list, with an overview of all tasks assigned. Reading Progress shows the teacher the average results for all reading activities that were set, as well as a list of words that students may have found challenging. Lastly, Reflect gives an overview of all check-ins created by the teacher and the response distribution from students.
