This is the transcript of the "Google Drive introduction" video.
Speaker 1:
Welcome to part one of our Google Drive tutorial. Google Drive is a cloud storage service that provides unlimited storage for staff and students to save and share files. These files can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection. In this video, we'll show you how to access the Google Drive through the portal, via the browser, and using the Desktop client.
To access the Google Drive through the portal, log into your staff portal first and then locate the red Google Workspace icon under My essentials. Next, click on the drive in the top left-hand corner of your screen. You can now access all of your personal, teams, as well as shared files saved in your Google Cloud space. If the Google Workspace icon is not listed under My essentials, go to the end of the list and click on Add new essential. Search for Google, and then click on the Add button next to the Google Workspace icon. You should now be able to locate Google Workspace icon on your list of essentials.
To quickly access Google Drive through the browser, you'll need to navigate to Google.com.au first, and then click on the blue Sign In button in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Please note that the sign in process will only need to be completed once per device, per browser. When prompted, click on Sign in and enter your @education.nsw.gov.au email address. You will now be able to see your name in the top right-hand corner.
Click on the waffle icon next to your name and select Drive. To access Google Drive using the Desktop client, click on the Internet Explorer icon, which can usually be found on the taskbar or on the desktop. On the pop-up menu, select This PC on the left-hand side of the pop-up, and then open Google Drive. You can now access your personal and shared drives.
The Google Desktop client installation process will be covered in a different video. To learn more about Google Drive, watch other videos in this series.
