This is the transcript of the "Google Classroom - Practice sets and video activities" video.
Speaker 1:
In today's tutorial, we'll explore Google Classroom tools for creating, managing, and sharing practise sets and video activities in one place. To get started, click on the resource tab on the left hand side of the screen. From here, you have two options, you can create a practise set by clicking on the new practise set button at the top of the screen, or you can create a new video activity by clicking on the new video activity button next to it. You can also view all of your previously created video activities and practise sets, as well as filter them by using the drop down menu located at the top of the screen. If you want to attach a practise set to an assignment, go to Classwork tab, click Create, select Assignment. You can now attach a practise set to your assignment.
You can choose between pre-existing practise sets or creating a new one. For our example we'll create a new practise set. When creating a new practise set, you'll need to start by naming it. You can then enter your questions and select the type of answer you're looking for. You can choose between short answers, single-select, and multi-select answers. These can all be auto-graded, you can also choose paragraphs which will need to be moderated by the teacher. You'll also need to enter the correct answer and select or search for the skills students are working on to add any helpful hints or YouTube resources to the question.
Clicking on the drop-down arrow next to resources allows teachers to review and remove resources that might not be helpful to students. These resources can also be added by clicking on the extra help button on the top right of the screen.
Clicking on the ellipsis allows you to duplicate or delete the question. Selecting a plus icon on the right of the question box will allow you to add text descriptions, new questions, as well as import the questions from existing Google forms. Practise sets are more than just traditional quizzes, they offer auto-grading, real-time feedback, and support to students as they learn.
Students can make multiple attempts and if they use the working out area on a touchscreen device, all attempts and working out are recorded. This information gives teachers valuable insights into students' understanding and helps them pinpoint areas for future focus in lessons.
To create a video question, start by creating a new assignment and attaching a YouTube to your assignment. You will then be able to either search or paste a URL link into the search bar, and once you select the video, you have the option of clicking on the blue add questions button in the bottom right of your screen. You'll find options to add multiple-choice, check boxes, or open-ended questions. Once you make your selection, enter your question and answers, select the correct answer and click save and continue.
These features are powerful tools for creating an interactive and responsive learning environment, offering real-time feedback, and support to students while giving teachers insights into students' progress and understanding.
