Transcript of the 'Apple iMovie using Magic Movie (iPad)' video

This is the transcript of the 'Apple iMovie using Magic Movie (iPad)' video.

Speaker 1:

If you are new to movie creation and editing, iMovie could be the right tool for you. iMovie allows users to create movies from scratch or nominate media and have the application provide you with a completed video, which can still be customised. Let's take a look. Look for the iMovie application. The project manager will open. Here, you would see any other projects that have been completed using this device. Let's open a new project using the Magic Movie option. You'll be prompted to add media from your camera roll. Select the media you would like to use. You can select the content in the order you want it shown, or you can shuffle the order of the media later in the editing windows.

Once you have selected the media, hit Create Magic Movie. This may take a moment. An editing window will open. It is broken into two windows. One is where you can manage the media in the movie, another where you can view the movie. You can also make this full screen for previewing. Your video will be ready for preview now, and if you like, ready to export. However, you can customise it further. Down the left-hand management window, the media will be organised into order of display. You can change the order by tapping Select, and then making a press and hold motion on the media you would like to move. It will then indicate with the change in size and allow you to drag and drop into a new position on the timeline. You can also make groups by dragging one media over the top of another. Groups allow you to order and combine sets of media and move them in a bulk move, maintaining their order.

You can import further media using the Add button on the lower side of the screen. To delete media, you need to use the Select button. Choose the media not needed, and then select Delete. You can also duplicate media using a similar workflow. In the top right of the editing window, you will see a Magic Movie icon. In this menu, you'll be able to choose a style that will automatically be applied to your movie. This will include a title, audio that is edited to the length of your movie, and transitions between media. When selecting a style, a menu will appear at the bottom of the screen, which will allow you to customise the titles, music, colours, and filters. Updating the text and further editing can be done back in the main management window.

To edit individual pieces of media, simply select them, and then click the small chevron that appears. This will open further editing options. You can customise the title and text that has been applied with your chosen style, add voice overs, and manage the audio. In this window, you can slide the video toward the left of your screen and work through editing all media as it appears in order. When you are finished, you can click done, which will save and return you to the main management screen, or you can immediately download, share, and export your video. Using the sharing button, the Magic Movie tool may save you a lot of effort. It's time to give it a try yourself or let your students create you a movie.
