Speaker 1:
Did you know that you can use Adobe Express to make videos? You can trim and split clips, and add audio, transitions, and text.
Before you watch this video, make sure you have watched the ‘Adobe Express Overview’ video in this series so you have a complete understanding of the dashboard and workspace.
Once you’ve signed in, you can start by selecting ‘Create a Video’ on the home page, or tapping the purple plus icon on the left, selecting ‘Video’, and then choosing the size of video you would like. You could also search through the Templates menu or use the search bar at the top.
Once you are in the editing workspace you will see your video’s timeline at the bottom of your screen. This shows a row for your visual media, a row for your audio, and a playerhead. You can always preview your video by pressing on the play icon. You can move your playerhead to preview selected parts.
Notice the main menu on the left. In the media tab, you have three options. You can upload from your own device, ‘Generate Image’, or you can search the extensive Adobe Stock library without worrying about copyright guidelines. As you scroll down you will see types of media such as photos, videos and audio. Hit ‘View All’ to see more. These options appear as tabs at the top of this panel also. Simply select the element you like and choose if you’d like it layered on the canvas, or as a whole new scene. In the Video and Audio tabs you will see an option to Animate a Character. You’ll notice that you can record yourself, or a voiceover as well.
You can trim the beginning or end of a clip by dragging the handles on either side. To cut a clip, you need to first drag your player head to where you’d like to make the cut. Then, right-click or select the three dots and select "Split." To delete a section, simply select it and hit the trash icon or delete on your keyboard .
It is also easy to layer your elements. Each clip works like a slide, so you can layer, resize, crop and reposition the media. If you’d need to know more about this, watch the ‘Graphics’ video in this series.
To add transitions between clips, click the "+" button and choose the type of transition from the left panel.
Adding text to your video can be done through the "Text" icon on the left menu. To start from scratch, select "Add your text". Once you have edited and selected your text, you can customise your text by changing the font, colour, outline, and effect in the editing pane.
You can also choose a pre-made text style from the scrolling through the editing pane.
Below the timeline, toggle the switch ‘Show Layer Timing’ to ‘on’. Now, when you select the text, you can adjust its duration by dragging, dropping and sliding the purple layer. You can also animate it using the icon of 3 circle above the workspace.
If you’d like to move your timeline out of the way as you edit or preview, simply press the down arrow above it to hide, and ‘Edit Timeline’ to show it again.
When you select a video you will find many features in the editing pane, including remove background. You no longer need a green screen.
All changes will save themselves. It’s a good idea to change the name of your video by selecting and typing over the Untitled document in the top left of your screen.
When your design is finished, you will find your download and sharing options in the top right hand corner of the window. In ‘Download’ you will be able to choose from a few formats and sizes. Mp4 is best for videos. You can also change the resolution, 4K being the best quality and largest file. In ‘Share’ you can ask others to collaborate or grab a template or view-only link. You can also push it out to your student management system.
Have fun creating!
