Transcript of 'Google Delegated Admin - Console overview' video

This is the transcript of the 'Google Delegated Admin - Console overview' video.

Speaker 1:

Hi, and welcome to our tutorial on Google Delegated Admin Console. In this video, I will be walking you through the landing screen and its key features. Now, if you're part of the New South Wales Department of Education and want to get access to the Google Delegated Admin Console, here is what you need to do.

All New South Wales public schools can nominate someone to take on the role of Google Delegated Admin. The principal assigns this access via the Manage Staff Access section in the DoE portal. Each school has its own container in the Google Delegated Admin Console, allowing for local management of school's Chromebook fleet. Please note that some of the settings, wifi for example, are automatically configured when the Chromebook is enrolled into the DoE Google domain.

Let's get started. First, open your web browser and go to Google Admin Console login page by typing admin.google.com in the address bar, and then signing in with your Google email address ending in @education.nsw.gov.au. Alternatively, if you have already logged into your Google account, click on the nine dots in the top right-hand corner and navigate to Admin icon.

When you first log in to your Google Delegated Admin Console, you will be greeted by the landing page. This is your central hub for managing your school's Chromebook settings. At the top of the screen, you will see the main dashboard. This area provides a quick overview of your school's devices, users, and product updates, as well as a search bar for quick access to users, groups, or settings. On the left-hand side, you will find the navigation menu. The menu allows you to access different sections of the admin console, such as Directory, Chrome browser, Devices, and Data sections. Each section contains specific tools and settings for managing your school's Chromebook fleet.

Let's have a look at the directory section. Here you can view and download a list of users attached to your school as well as reset passwords, usernames, and a few other options like moving a user into different organisational unit or suspending an account. You can also view your organisational units in these sections. These will be preset and include your school's staff unit and student unit with student's unit being further broken down into year groups for more granular device management.

Next, we have the Chrome browser section, which allows schools to manage Chrome browser settings and policies for students and staff, such as homepage settings, bookmark management, app and extensions management, and URL blocking. In the devices section, you can view how many devices have been enrolled into your organisational unit. You can also power wash and manage devices remotely, export the list of devices as a CSV file, set up printing, and view a range of reports.

That's a brief overview of the Google Delegated Admin Console landing page. We hope this tutorial helps you navigate and utilise the console more effectively. To learn more about GDA, watch one of our other videos in the series.
