Accessing Teams via the DoE portal

- Open your browser of choice.
- Login to the DoE Staff Portal
- If you have added Microsoft Office 365 to your essentials page, click the icon.
- If you have not yet added the Microsoft Office 365 icon, click 'my learning tools'. Locate the Microsoft Office 365 icon and click 'show details'. Then click '+ add to my essentials' list.
- Click the portal 'home' button and click the Microsoft Office 365 icon.
- This will bring you to the Microsoft Office 365 home page. Locate the Teams icon on the left menu and click to launch Teams.
Accessing Teams via the desktop

- Open up your browser of choice.
- In the search bar, type https://aka.ms/getteams or click the link.
- Click the 'download for desktop' button.
- This will download the latest version of Microsoft Teams for your device.
Accessing Teams via iOS

- Open the Apple App Store on your iOS device.
- Tap the search icon in the store and type Microsoft Teams. Make sure you choose the Microsoft app, as shown or click iTunes store.
- Tap the download link to install the app on your device.
- Once the app has finished downloading and installing, tap the open button.

- Select Teams button from the app bar.
- Select 'join' or 'create team' and click 'create team'.
- For a classroom team, select 'class' as the team type.
- Enter a name and optional description for your class. Select 'next'.
- Enter participant usernames with numbers and select 'add'. Click 'done' when you’re finished.
Sharing a join code

- If you’re a team owner, go to the team name and click the ellipsis to show 'team options'.
- Click 'manage team'.
- Select the 'settings' tab, then 'team code' and click 'generate'.
- Click 'copy'. Share the code with your invitees however you choose—send the code to a single person via email, chat or write it on a white board for a whole room full of people.
Joining a team

- Select Teams and click 'join or create a team'.
- This is where you can join a team, or discover existing ones.
- Go to 'join a team with a code' (the second tile).
- Type or paste the code in the 'enter code box', and click 'join'.
Inviting members to your team

- Navigate to the class team you’d like to add your co-teacher to.
- Select 'more options' next to your class team, then select 'add members'.
- Select the students or teachers tab, then type in their DoE name, username with number or email and then select 'add'.
- The teacher is immediately added to the class team as an owner. Select 'close' to return to teams.
Adding channels

- To add a channel, select 'more options' next to your class team’s name, then 'add a channel'.
- Enter a name and an optional description for your channel.
- Choose whether you’d like your channel to be standard or private. Standard channels will be available to everyone. Private channels will only be available to students you choose.
- Check the box to automatically show this channel in everyone’s channel list and click 'add'.
Adding tabs

- To add a new tab, team owners can click the 'plus' button next to the existing tabs in a channel and select 'websitew.
- Add a name to the tab name field.
- Add a link to a website you have copied.
- Click 'save'.
Changing team settings

- Navigate to a class team, then select 'more options' button .
- Select 'manage team'.
- Select the 'settings' tab, then select a section to expand it and make changes.
Delete a team

- Only owners of a class can delete it. Note that deleting a class permanently removes access to your class, assignments, channels, and calendar for everyone including yourself. Navigate to the class you’d like to delete, then select the ellipses icon next to the class name.
- Select 'delete the team'.
- If you’re sure you want to delete the class, check the box and select 'delete team'.

- Select to see more options by hovering over your team name and clicking the three dots (ellipses).
- Select 'manage team' to find members, channels, settings, and apps for your team all in one place.
- Select 'settings' then team picture to add a team picture and give your team some personality.
Understanding the activity tab

Click 'activity' to catch up on all your unread messages, @mentions, replies, and more.
- On the left hand side of the screen, look for the bell icon.
- Click on the bell icon to view all the activity that relates to you: @mentions, replies and more.
Filtering activity

For a more specific feed, go to the 'feed' menu in the ‘activity’ section and select 'my activity'. You'll see a list of everything you've been up to lately in Teams.
- Select the filter icon.
- After the menu that pops up, select what type of notifications you want to see.
- You can also search for keywords in the feed that involve you.
- Select X to close the filter.
Show channel info button

- To see key channel details at a glance. Select 'channel info' button in the upper-right corner.
A pane will open to the right of the channel where you’ll find info including a channel description, member list, recent contributors, pinned posts, and updates.
Here you can also access 'pinned' messages and announcements.
