  • From Week 10 onward, all new Access Requests must be submitted via the new platform.
  • The legacy system will remain in read-only status for a period.

EDUtech 2026 is coming to Sydney next term and will be held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Darling Harbour June 3-4. We are excited to showcase real school stories demonstrating how technology is utilised across our NSW public schools.

If you are based outside of Sydney, we plan on having a full wrap up resource to support you in your professional learning.

Please complete the EOI, and we will email you when tickets are available. A maximum of two tickets will be available per school.

Cyber criminals are using calendar invitations to steal credentials. This doubles their chance of being successful as they can put an email in your inbox and a meeting in your calendar.

While our systems will detect and block the email, the calendar function will often process the invitation before the mail security system catches it and removes the message.

These fake invites can appear in your Teams calendar even if the email itself it blocked.

While we work with Microsoft to fix this security gap, staff should read and follow the advice in this Staff Noticeboard article to keep safe from these calendar meeting invites.

iPad with slide saying Introduction to prompting

Effective prompting is key to getting the best support from NSWEduChat. Prompting involves giving clear, targeted instructions to an AI tool. The department’s recommended prompting model for students uses a simple ‘Who, What, How’ structure:

  • Who: Identify who you are (e.g., year level).
  • What: Describe the task or learning goal.
  • How: Specify the type of assistance needed (e.g., examples, sentence starters).

To help students develop these skills, the department offers a range of resources.

Discover the latest features of NSWEduChat

NSWEduChat continues to evolve. Here are some of its newest features.

Pin your important chats: you can pin any chat in your history so it stays at the top of your chat list, giving you quick and easy access.

Archive and unarchive chats: NSWEduChat allows you to archive chats you don’t need right now but want to keep for future reference. Need to revisit these conversations? You can unarchive them anytime.

Zero-touch Chromebook enrolment is now available to support faster and more efficient device rollout in schools. With Zero-touch, the goal is to have newly purchased Chromebooks automatically assigned to your school’s Google Delegated Admin Console (GDAC).

The enrolment process is simple and familiar. Connect the device to a wired or wireless network and sign in using your @education.nsw.gov.au email address. The Chromebook will automatically enrol into the DoE Google domain and apply the correct settings and security policies.

Any DoE Google account can complete the enrolment, reducing the need for technical staff to manually configure devices. Please note that it might take up to 48h for your devices to appear in Google Delegated Admin console.

Follow the quick reference guide, Zero-touch Chromebook enrolment, to enrol your devices.

Students in a classroom looking at a laptop

Feedback is a powerful tool for teachers and students, and adding your voice can make it even more impactful. Both teachers and students can add a quick video or audio clip to transform an assignment in Google Classroom.

Celebrate student progress with these simple steps to transform your feedback loop:

  • Clarify Instructions: Attach a quick screencast or video intro to an assignment post so students can see and hear your expectations before they start.

  • Narrate Success: Record a supportive voice note in Private Comments to highlight a student's strengths and areas for growth.

  • Show and Tell: Students can submit a video reflection with their work, giving them a flexible way to "voice" their thinking.

  • Video Announcements: Post a video greeting to your Class Stream to spark engagement and clarity for the day’s activities.

Moving from typing to talking saves time and deepens connection. Multimodal feedback creates an inclusive environment where every student can confidently show what they know.

Watch this video to find out how you can use audio and video in Google Classroom today!

A recent update has been made to all Microsoft Teams where those who wish to join a Team using a code now must be approved by a Team owner. This change was rolled out globally to improve governance and prevent unintended access.

For teachers using Class teams and manually adding students as members the process remains the same.

For more information on joining a Team using a link or code, please read the information on the Microsoft Support page.

School-based ICT Coordinators, TSOs, and Digital Field Services teams have made significant progress migrating devices to Intune and CDM. However, approximately 60,000 devices still use the legacy management systems, UDM and Config Manager.

To assist schools in identifying these devices, ITD will modify the desktop wallpaper background to make it easier to recognise which devices require migration to Intune and CDM.

The update will take effect in Week ___. Please watch for the new background and use it to plan the migration of your remaining devices.
