Transcript of 'Microsoft Outlook - Doing more with email' video

This is the transcript of the 'Microsoft Outlook - Doing more with email' video.

Speaker 1:

When viewing our emails now, it's important to note that we have two separate viewing tabs, a Focused tab and an Other tab. The Other tab will have emails from generic senders or from people we don't often receive emails from. It's important to check this Other section. The Focused section will include all other emails from DoE staff and other relevant people.

When viewing an email in our Compact View, we do have the option to delete, mark as read, flag or pin an email to the top by hovering over those icons. When you're ready to reply to or forward an email, head up to the top right-hand corner and hover over the separate arrows for either Reply, Reply All or Forward. Let's have a go at replying to an email.

You'll notice that we get our window to reply, as well as scrolling down we get access to the email that was sent to us for reference. Let's type in our response to the sent email for a reply. You'll notice the formatting ribbon is now down the bottom beneath the email rather than sitting up above. Another change is the send options that we now have. We can choose to Send now or to Send later. We're going to send this one now.

Now let's have a look at forwarding an email onto another recipient. The Forward button is the arrow that points obviously, forward. Again, we have reference to the email below and a section to type our own message above. Now in forwarding, we'll need to choose a recipient. Outlook will automatically search for any DoE staff or people you have within your contacts. We then will type our message remembering that our formatting ribbon is sitting below our message, and we now have our various sending options.

For this one, we're going to send it later. So we choose our date, and below we can choose our time. Let's send it tomorrow at 9:00, and Send. You'll notice that this forwarding email has now been put into the drafts and has given you a date and a time for when it will be sent.
