This is the transcript of the "Google Classroom - Communication" video.
Speaker 1:
Welcome teachers. In this video, we'll explore effective ways to communicate with your students using Google Classroom. Communication is key to creating a collaborative and engaging online learning environment. Let's dive in.
Once you've logged into your Google Classroom, you can easily communicate with your students by using the various features available. Let's start with a Stream. This is the first tab at the top on the left-hand side. The Stream is like the home page of your classroom. This is where you can post announcements, ask questions, or share resources. It is a great way to keep your students informed and engaged. To create an announcement, click the box beneath the banner that says, "Announce something to your class." Type your message, and select your audience, whether it be the entire class, specific students, or groups.
You can use the drop-down menu to post the announcement to multiple Google Classrooms. You can attach files or embed videos for detailed instructions or updates. Finally, click Post. Alternatively, you can schedule or save the announcement as a draft by clicking the arrow next to the post button. Both students and teachers can comment on these announcements by typing in the box below them.
And another effective communication method is using the Classwork tab. This feature allows you to organise assignments, materials, and questions in a structured way, making it easy for students to access and submit their work. For detailed instructions, please refer to our video tutorial on Google Assignments. Don't forget about the comment feature in Google Classroom. This tool allows you to provide feedback, answer questions, and engage in discussions directly on student assignments. By highlighting text and adding comments, you can give real-time specific feedback. Students can also reply to these comments creating an ongoing conversation.
Additionally, you can use Private comments for overall feedback or instructions. This feature enhances the learning experience by facilitating interactive and supportive communication. For more information, check out our video tutorials on Google Docs. The settings for Stream are located in the top right corner of the screen in class settings. Here, you can change who can comment and post in Stream, how classwork will look, as well as the visibility of deleted items in Stream. Effective communication is essential for successful online learning experience. By utilising the features available in Google Classroom, you can keep your students informed, engaged, and motivated. Stay tuned for more Google tutorials.
