This is the transcript of the 'Apple iMovie - Storyboard' video.
Speaker 1:
Welcome to the wonderful world of iMovie. In this video, we will explore the amazing and simple to use storyboards option. Storyboards are pre-designed video templates that students and teachers love. These templates are scaffolded to support the movie creator with what type of video clip they should create and the content that should be used. The simple to use scaffolded design makes video creation easy and this really assists our students to concentrate more on what needs to be included in a great movie rather than getting stuck in the how to make the movie phase.
Let's dive in and take a look. Once you've entered into iMovie, you will clearly see the Start New Project option at the bottom of the page. The Storyboards option is in the centre of the screen. Tap on Storyboards to see a wide range of pre-prepared movie designs that will walk your students through the creation process. Let's take a look at the wide range available to us. Today we're going to choose to make a Top 5 video. We could create a Top 5 video on many aspects of our learning. It could be top five aspects of a chapter or book we have read. Top five elements that make something successful or work, or even top five features of an event or a place.
Once you first select the Storyboard of your choosing, you'll be asked to select from a range of styles or the look of your production. Each scaffolded movie creation design is set up with information about the style, the video clip creation flow, the type of image or video shot that would suit best, and provides the user with information about the type of content that might suit that clip the best. Each type of Storyboard is different, so exploring the great scaffolded sections is a great idea. If you wish to remove a section, it's simple. Simply swipe left and select delete. You can even adjust or rename the heading of the section to help your students. Simply swipe left, select Rename, or click on the plus. To add the desired clip, students simply click on the plus and then choose to use the camera to take an image or video, or they can select from a video pre-made that is stored in their photo library.
Once a clip has been added, if you tap upon it, you can make additional edits such as adding titles or text over the video, adding music or a soundtrack or even adding a voiceover to narrate your video. At any time you wish to review your video, you can simply press the Play button. Once you have finished building and editing your work, you can simply choose the Share feature and determine what you would like to do with your project. Save or Share will upload the video to the iPad photo album or a cloud space of your choice or, you can export the movie or a blank template of an adjusted Storyboard to a saved space and then share with your students for them to start their own movie creation journey. The scaffolded Storyboard will help them focus on what is required in their video and make this task more accessible for all students. Certainly worth checking out today in your classroom.
