Could one of your students be the next David Attenborough?

A student team films a review at the Australian Museum

Tuesday 18 May is International Museum Day and Technology 4 Learning are celebrating an exciting collaboration with the Australian Museum by releasing new online filmmaking teaching resources and an original SITU360 STEM immersive video.

We want to support teachers to explore a new approach to STEM by encouraging students to engage with your local institution or community organisation and film a student review. The self-directed learning fosters creative, technical and leadership skills as students collaborate on a short video production.

Follow these simple steps to get started:

  1. All the technical skills your students need to film their own review can be learned in The Student Filmmaker online course
  2. To get your own student review production started, watch a student review video example produced by Elderslie High School students. They visited the Australian Museum recently to interview experts and film their review of the renovated exhibits.
  3. You can also watch a ‘Behind the scenes/Making of’ the student filmmaking journey at the Australian Museum, to see the students in action.
  4. If you want to explore the STEM and Science aspect with palaeontology, dive into the new Australian Museum SITU360 video tour. It’s easy to view from a web browser or you can experience the immersive version with the stem.T4L handheld VR kit
