Hour of Code 2021 – Go back in time with the Timecraft challenge

The Minecraft: Education Edition (M:EE) Hour of Code challenge is back! This year it’s called Timecraft and designed to get students to learn basic coding concepts to correct mysterious mishaps throughout history! Travel back in time to save the future in this free Hour of Code lesson in M:EE. Players choose their own adventure, connect with great innovators and inventions in science, architecture, music, engineering and more.

What will students learn?

Students will learn introductory skills in coding in MakeCode (Block-based) or Python. Each mini challenge within the game will encourage students to problem solve an adventure in time, guiding them through key moments in human achievement. This immersive approach encourages creative thinking and problem solving, in conjunction with building interest in the world around us, culture and heritage with delight and impact.

How can students access HOC?

Hour of Code is provided in the demo version of the Minecraft: Education Edition. Therefore, it is available to PC, Mac, iOS, Chromebook devices for free to students. HOC works as a single player experience, so it supports independent or classroom learning.
