Student incursion: Getting started with Google workspace in the classroom

Teacher and student learning together with technology

In this student-focused webinar for Stages 1/2, your class will be introduced to Google Workspace (formerly known as G Suite for Education).

They will be shown how to:

  • navigate to their Google Drive.
  • create and edit in Google Docs
  • share their work with their peers and their teacher.

During this hands-on session, students will need:

  • access to a computer with Chrome browser installed
  • to know their email address and have a topic from which they could create an acrostic poem. Our topic suggestions include Mother's Day, a favourite sport or anything else they could find interesting.
We recommend having the webinar displayed on a screen or a projector at the front of the room so students can follow along on their device!

At the end of this session, students will know:

  • the basics of Google Docs
  • how to add images and content from web sources and from their Google Drive
  • how to navigate different permission structures
  • how to create folders and customise their Google Drive
  • how to share and add collaborators to their projects.
