Getting started in the creation of your own VR content

Join education VR experts as they explore four tools to enable the whole class to build virtual reality environments. These immersive environments allow students to refine their design ideas and demonstrate solutions from a first-person perspective, allowing for rich and meaningful feedback discussions.

The four tools will cover a wide range of skills from beginner to advanced and are applicable to all curriculum areas.

  1. Minecraft Education Edition - perfect for Years 7 & 8. Watch a demonstration with Laurens from DoE  
  2. SketchUp - already a staple in most high schools. Ideal for Years 9 & 10. Learn from the students at Greystanes HS how their design changed because of VR
  3. SITU360 for any year level - if you have a stem.T4L kit that includes the 360-degree camera, make sure you have claimed your Pro account. Explore the virtual art exhibition created by Carrington Public School in SITU360
  4. Unity - this is an advanced tool, but already DoE high school students have created AND published a VR app in the Microsoft store! See how the students of Merrylands HS created their app 

We will run through a brief overview of the workflow for each tool, with tips to get started right away.
