Zoo robot excursion with Blue-Bot - a stem.T4L introduction

Today’s experience is about connecting a familiar read with new technology for early learners. After engaging in a shared reading of Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell, students will learn how to connect their Blue-Bot using Bluetooth to the iPad app. Students will then navigate their Blue-Bots around a map to visit different animals at the zoo.

They will predict their path, program their Bluebot using one to one correspondence, building up their programming skills to navigate their Blue-Bot around the zoo map. Students will need access to a Blue-Bot, an iPad, a mat and zoo cards. These can be found in the stem.T4L Learning Library on Board 1196. You can also create a custom costume for the Blue-Bot and you may wish to do this ahead of time.

This activity is designed for students in Early Stage 1 and up. You may enjoy this Learning Challenge – Going to the Zoo. The stem.T4L site has more teacher professional learning and support available.
